Introducing Edmond Standbury, the Newquay local you need to get to know this summer. Being inspired and creating beautiful pieces of sand art on the local beaches of Cornwall, Ed is definitely one to keep an eye on. With a love of beaches since he was a kid, we just had to share his incredible work.
"I've spent years getting inspired and expressing myself through different mediums and styles. I've created seascape, underwater scenes and abstract work in oil, acrylic and gouache, portraits in pencil, and science fiction cartoon illustrations in marker pen and ink. I've always endeavored to produce imagery that is evocative and thought provoking."
" I've always loved and been inspired by the patterns left behind by the movement of the ocean. I quickly learned that I could create 3 different tones in the sand by adjusting the teeth spacing of my rake so it's kind of like doing a painting with just 3 shades of the same colour."
"I only started creating sand art a year ago, I've learned a lot and now feel confident I can realize my more challenging ideas. I'm keen to travel and put my rake to the sand on beaches around the world for more people to enjoy. I would also like to use my sand art to help charities and maybe start some workshops for people who'd like to give it a try, it's a real buzz helping people connect with their creative ideas, especially in such an exemplary and inspiring environment, beside the ocean."
