Boardmasters Guide | Smoothies at Box & Barber

We sent local ambassador Lowenna Pascoe aka Cornwall Lover to catch up with the good folks at Newquay’s Box & Barber, to explore five smoothie recipes to kick-start your day. After all, there’s no time for hangovers at Boardmasters...

► Acai Smoothie

I absolutely love this smoothie filled with Acai berries, a superfood rich in omega fats, protein, and fibre. These tasty berries are great for a boost of energy, digestion and looking after your immune system. The bananas and coconut milk add a sweet taste and thick texture, making this one of my favourite Box and Barbour shakes.

Ingredients | Acai Berries | Bananas | Coconut milk

► Melonhead

For those that are looking to rehydrate after a day at the festival, Melonhead is the one for you. With nothing but 100% melon, this delicious shake is filled to the brim with vitamins A, B6 and C, lots of lycopene, antioxidants and amino acids, to get you back on track and ready for the day ahead. It’s also their prettiest looking shake, so a winner for me.

Ingredients | 100% watermelon

► The Champ

You’ll find plenty of the locals grabbing this smoothie ‘to go’ after a day of surfing at Newquay’s Fistral beach. The protein powder helps heal muscles post-surf, while the peanut butter is full of Vitamin E, magnesium and potassium (not to mention, delicious).

Ingredients | Peanut butter | Protein powder | Banana | Almonds

► Banana Buzz

If like me, you need a quick fix in the morning to get you on top form again, then I highly recommend the Banana Buzz shake. With it's double shot of espresso paired with vitamins and minerals from the banana, this shake is sure to give you the buzz that you’re after.

Ingredients | Double espresso | Banana | Coconut milk

►Tropic Thunder

Last but by no means least it's Tropic Thunder. If there's a smoothie that can taste like a party in your mouth, then it’s this one. Filled to the brim with mango and passionfruit there are a whole host of benefits including clear skin, improving eye health, lowering cholesterol and boosting your immunity system after a long night. Plus the mangos taste so good!

Ingredients | Mango | Passionfruit | Banana | Almond milk

So there you have it, some of my favourite shakes to help you get through the Boardmasters week so you don’t miss a trick. Box & Barber Coffee Shop is located just a stone’s throw from Fistral beach so be sure to pop in during your jam-packed Boardmasters festival experience!
