In 2006 Jason deCaires Taylor created the world’s first underwater sculpture park. It started with one piece, then grew to an entire collection, and soon enough the artist was creating entire museums under the surface of the sea. The ocean is as much the canvas for Jason deCaires Taylor as it is a museum. The light changes, the surroundings change, and the pieces themselves evolve over time – even serving as homes to wildlife. “As soon as we submerge the sculpture they’re not ours anymore,” he says. “As soon as we sink them, the sculptures belong to the sea.” Awesome work, Jason!
