BELISHAS, a Bristol-based post-punk/britpop four piece, have been writing and gigging consistently since 2016. The childhood friends have been mixing influences such as The Clash, Blur and The Cure to create a unique and fresh sound on the local scene. Live sets are invigoratingly upbeat, intense and, not surprisingly, very sweaty. Carving themselves an ever-changing sound, Belishas address topics ranging political anger to overjoyed frenzy, balancing angst with optimism. Their newest EP will be released in May 2019, which steps further away from their older songwriting habits. Pushing a more angular and but equally melodic take on modern politics, it fuses pessimism with irony and all polished off with a bittersweet gleam.
