Don’t even think about putting Sweden’s La Fleur into a box. For a start, she’s had too many twists and turns in her career to be edged into one particular corner. She actually started her working life as a pharmacist – but despite her acute understanding of laboratories, her passion was for an altogether different kind of mixing. Building on the success of the ‘Flowerhead’ EP on her own label Power Plant, her key electronic releases so far have included the ‘Nightflow’ and ‘Arms Around’ EPs (remixed by Detroit legends Kenny Larkin and Carl Craig respectively), as well as remixes for both Kerri Chandler and Sasha. Over the last 18 months she’s enjoyed a rich vein of form, being awarded one of Mixmag’s Breakthrough DJs of 2017, before a string of stellar productions marked 2018. There was the acclaimed ‘Exhaust’, which was released on Adam Beyer’s Truesoul imprint, a strong EP on Watergate titled ‘Outbreaker’, featuring a remix by Tuff City Kids, the buzzed side project of Gerd Janson and ‘Förbindelse’, her debut collaboration with Sasha on Last Night On Earth, that was anointed Essential New Tune by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Last summer she also laid down a critically acclaimed Essential Mix that received plaudits throughout the industry. In 2019, La Fleur returns to the mothership to deliver the stunning ‘Aphelion’ EP on her Power Plant imprint. The work features ‘Hunting Grounds’ that was a highlight of her Essential Mix and Cercle stream. Continuing her busy first quarter, a debut on Kompakt’s Speicher series comes in April with ‘Tears’, while she’ll also drop a maiden release on Crosstown Rebels giving the remix treatment to Damian Lazarus & Ancient Moons ‘Five Moons’. A busy year awaits on the touring front, highlighted by Ultra Music Festival, All Gone Pete Tong @ Creamfields, Loveland, Sonus Festival and tastemaker favourite Department Festival on home soil in Stockholm.
